This Week: Philippians 1:9-11

This is where we are planting ourselves in God's word this week.

Our Song this week is:
Lord, Prepare me to be a Sanctuary

Lord, Prepare me to be a sanctuary,
Pure and Holy,
Tried and True,
And with Thanksgiving,
I'll be a living, sanctuary for you.

Music this week: Mercy Me- Finish What He started

Where did this music come from?

Philippians 1:4-6 "In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

Story behind the music: CICK HERE TO VIEW ON YOUTUBE
(Short interview with Mercy Me)

Finish What He Started
- Mercy Me

Finish What He Started

I don't have to know you
To know that you will go through hard times
It's just part of life
Don't let that moment blind you
And don't let it define you
Take heart, that's not who you are
Our God is able, more than capable
And to be faithful until the end
And finish what he started
No matter what you've done
Grace comes like a flood
There's hope to carry on
He'll finish what he started
No matter what you face
His mercy will not change
He's with you all the way
He'll finish what he started
Remember you're forgiven
So there's no need to give
Into the lie, you're disqualified
Our God is able, more than capable
And to be faithful until the end
And finish what he started
No matter what you've done
Grace comes like a flood
There's hope to carry on
He'll finish what he started
No matter what you face
His mercy will not change
He's with you all the way
He'll finish what he started
This work he started in you now
He is faithful to complete it
The promise was sealed when he cried out
It is finished
He'll finish what he started
No matter what you've done
Grace comes like a flood
There's hope to carry on
He'll finish what he started
No matter what you face
His mercy will not change
He's with you all the way
He'll finish what he started
What he started (What he started)
What he started (What he started)
Oh, He'll finish what he started

Philippians Rap

Found this tonight if you like a little rap.

Pressing On...

Pressing on to the actual book of Philippians next week!
This week please be reading through Chapter 1 verses 1-11.

Remember my analogy of a ...
...cow chewing his cud. Let us be mulling over this passage this week. :)
May the Lord speak to us and draw us closer to Him!

The prayer requests are updated on the left side. If you are on a mobile device you will have to click full version/ web version on the bottom of the blog to get the correct format to view the requests.

Lastly, if you haven't...
Please make sure to do that this next week. The bible study fee this semester is $10.00. It pays for the fun things we do (tea parties, prizes and more fun stuff to come)

Sure loving getting to spend time with you all! See you Wednesday!

Music this Week: I Bless your Name (Selah)

TRIVIA: The book of Acts actually documents for us the birth of the Philipians church! The first verse of this lyric talks about the 2nd believer in the town. If you email me with the answer you will win a prize this week :)

Watch the Song here

I BLESS YOUR NAME
In prisoners' chains with bleeding stripes
Paul and Silas prayed that night
And in their pain began to sing
Their chains were loosed and they were free

I bless Your name, I bless Your name
I give You honor, give You praise
You are the Life, the Truth, the Way
I bless Your name, I bless Your name

Some midnight hour if you should find
You're in a prison in your mind
Reach out and praise, defy those chains
And they will fall in Jesus' name

We bless Your name, we bless Your name
We give You honor, give You praise
You are the Life, the Truth, the Way
We bless Your name, we bless Your name

Last week we talked about and sang Blessed be Your Name. This song has the same question for us. Will we bless his name...at all times? He is the way, the truth and the way. He is worthy to be trusted!!

This Week...

Well, this week we spent a lot of time with each other and sharing praise and prayer requests. You will find them posted on the left hand side of the blog. If you were unable to be there this week, please let me know how we can pray for you!

After our song, we had about 5 minutes to talk about the background information for Philippians SO....we are going to push that to this coming week. This week on Wednesday we will look at the town of Philipi and the story behind the book. :)

I seem to get a little bogged down sometimes trying to stay on a schedule but God is teaching me just to let him lead and thus let's do that together! We will take our time and just follow where He takes us. Please try to be in class ready to go next week! Please be faithful to pray over one another. I love what God is doing with our group. May He be greatly glorified!

Music this week: Blessed be your Name

The book of Philippians is all about having joy...all the time...every day...in the midst of great happy days and in the middle of nasty muck that we walk through in our lives. This song seems fitting as it seems to be written for just that purpose. Will we bless his name on good days? Will we bless his name in the darkest of our days? I love the lyric that says: My heart will choose to say. It is a choice to trust God and choose to bless his name.

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

Trivia: Question 1

The first person to email me with the correct answer will win a prize in class on Wednesday!

Q: Who was the first believer in the town on Philippi?

Hint....

During [the] night Paul had a vision.  A Macedonian stood before him and implored him with these words, “Come over to Macedonia and help us” — Acts 16:9.
It was about two decades following the death of Christ, when Paul brought Christianity into Europe.  One evening while fast asleep in Troas (western Turkey), Paul dreamt of a Macedonian pleading with him to evangelize in Macedonia.*   When Paul awoke, he felt confident that the Holy Spirit was leading him to the Roman province.  So, along with his missionary companions, Paul began the journey across the Aegean Sea. When Paul and Silas (and possibly Luke) first arrived in Philippi, they spent some time in the city and then went to a river bank, hoping to find a place of worship.  There, Paul found a group of women and began to share the story of the Lord, Jesus Christ. One of the ladies loved God but did not know Jesus. Paul shared the gospel with her and she gave her life to him that day!
